In this case I have to say this. Nero uses vfw codecs (and yes there is a vfw of x.264 but its never kept quite up to date with the exe). Other GUIs here that don't cost money and are actively developed by the creators and supporters. Where as Nero has Customer Service (CS) PR crap going for it.
Here you can talk directly with the developer and get strait forward answers to any concern support or difficulty operating the program. Nero Has no such ability and never will.
As for changes they never post a publicly viewable change log which is good practice here for all developers on the forum. Not to play; as you put it the My Encoder is better then Yours! Piece the fact still remains you pay for what you get. (ie little if any support, no info on internally changing items, more loss of money for every new version and less feature friendly obstacles that seem to get in the way, and that lousy windows policy of activation treat all customers like criminals type attitude.) No, No matter how you spell it After Nero 6 I stopped buying their products because they went cold. You know corporate cold.:p As for your initial OP I think that it only can be answered by their not to friendly English none coherent CS staff.
This is my take on it. I am acutely aware of the benefits and drawbacks of x264 as well as the homebrewed GUIs - I've used them! Unlike many enthusiasts though, I am less hung up on pixel-peeping and raw encoding efficiency as I am on ease of use, straightforward operation, and a stable platform. Given I usually purchase and upgrade Nero for it's disc burning tools, Recode is a nice added bonus.
Developers, by all means - keep up the good work. Your encoders and GUIs help to pressure commercial vendors such as Nero. But for my encoding needs, Recode is the only one that lets me get my jobs from stand alone MPEGs, AVIs, and DVDs of movies and television episodes all batched up and processed without spending an hour tweaking scripts, updating add-on components, and wasting time checking to see if my audio will mux in properly. Yes, I trade off a modicum of encoding quality and detailed options, but it is a trade off I gladly accept for a usually smooth experience. I continue to watch the threads, posts, and developments of various tools out here, and occasionally I try one out to see if the developments help people like me.
As of yet, none have - and when they do, rest assured I'll give them a fair shake. But until then, I go with what I know works. Which is why I bumped this thread from obscurity back into action because I was interested in knowing other peoples experiences with the new build of Recode. In fact, the only take I am really interested in are those from people who have used the new Recode and what it may, or may not, bring new to the table. But thank you all for evangelizing and generally transforming the thread from a simple question into a stump speech. It also doesn't reflect well on someone when they criticize a vendor for poor language skills, all the while demonstrating equally flawed grammar themselves.
(eg: 'As for your initial OP I think that it only can be answered by their not to friendly English none coherent CS staff.' ) They may not be native English speakers (and I assume you aren't either) but I can understand their English (Such as people like JohnV) better than I understood that last post, so take that for what it's worth. Hopefully someone from Nero or a user who has actually tried it out can weigh in before it gets too late. Compared nero digital avc with x264 is unfair.Nero digital AVC is developed by Nero and Ateme, but it is a limited edition of Ateme's Codec. The max b-frame is 3,max reference frame is 4,no RDO,no Quantize Matrix,no Weighted prediction,no Hierarchical B-frames. 6-12 insect repellent. Nero always release the changlog,ie:But the new Nero 9 didn't do that until now. I am sorry if I made an error in speech. I said change log not release notes.
A change log is comprehensive and gives technical details, release notes just give a wash of basics that do nothing but confuse. But nero recode is so easy to use. Ateme releases their third generation H.264 core engine several days ago.Maybe nero recode 4.0.4.0 includes this codec. Ease of use is no resion to charge out the butt for a half there project that still is buggy.

Or if you don't know the answer, as it would appear. Don't post. I'm sorry I can't help you OP, but I've noticed no difference between the latest Recode and the old version 3 in actual output or encoding speed.
Hi, I am a very old Nero customer and have bought every version since 2011 until this year. Everytime I buy Nero Platinum, Support guys send me a separate Nero Recode activation key as I format a lot and don't want to be waiting for ages for my patent activation to be reset. Just like last year, I sent an email to support and again, I didn't receive any confirmation in my email that my request was submitted successfully and I don't want to be waiting for days only to discover that noone got my message. Can someone please help me get this moving quickly or to get an email for customer service?
